The Deputy Minister for Reintegration of TOT Snaver Seitkhalil chaired a meeting on the launch of the virtual phone number service for citizens of Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol city.

Representatives of the Administration of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, the National Commission, which exercises the state regulation in the field of communications and information, LLC Lifecell, LLC Atlantis Telecom attended the meeting.

Participants of the meeting agreed upon further joint steps of the project implementation, discussed the technical component of launching such service as well as the necessity to conduct the corresponding communication campaign for Ukrainians who are forced to live under occupation and therefore have no possibility to use the numbers of the Ukrainian mobile operators.

"Accessible and convenient access of our citizens on the TOT to administrative services is one of the priorities of the Ministry in terms of digitalization. In particular this is provided by the virtual phone number service, which we plan to launch together with the operators by the end of the first half of this year. One of its main advantages is the simplification of access to public services via phone number, primarily in the field of administrative, medical and banking services," noted Snaver Seitkhalil.

Virtual phone number is a service provided by the mobile operators to enable the use of Ukrainian phone number without having a physical SIM-card via mobile Internet or Wi-Fi using the application. Such service will allow residents of TOT to make and receive calls, send and receive SMS-messages and the like.

It is worth noting that the virtual phone number service is currently used in more than 192 countries of the world.

Let us recall that in January, the Ministry for Reintegration of TOT appealed to mobile operators regarding the possibility of establishment of a special tariff for residents of the TOT of Ukraine. Therefore, LLC Lifecell, LLC Atlantis Telecom confirmed their readiness to provide this service.

In addition, it is planned that all public services in online format will be available for residents ofTOT by 2023. In particular, IDP certificate is already available in Diia (Action) application, the e-Maliatko (e-baby) service for TOT residents is being tested, as well as the algorithm of enabling citizens to submit an online application for compensation for destroyed housing, assistance, legal protection and other services is being considered.
